Sponges are used to apply various types of makeup and paint. They are beneficial due to their flexibility, their ability to hold lots of product, and they are often more disposable, and therefore more sanitary over brushes.This is the most commonly available sponge. Available in disks and rectangles to fit compacts, or as triangles at affordable prices. They apply makeup smoothly and are less prone to streaking than brushes in some situations. White foam sponges are usually made from a polyurethane foam, though latex based sponges are not unheard of.
